Carlos Odria Trio - Summer Concert

Thursday, August 256:30—7:30 PMDexter HallCharlton Public Library40 Main St., Charlton, MA, 01507

The Carlos Odria Trio (COT) is a high-energy acoustic ensemble that performs original compositions and arrangements of jazz standards and Latin American popular music. They deliver an exciting blend of international styles such as bossanova, Afro-Peruvian grooves, rumba flamenca, and cumbia with an improvisational approach inspired by the rich tradition of American jazz.

Since its formation in 2017, COT has been performing actively in the New England area. It has been a featured artist at the Worcester Jazz Festival, and has performed at venues such as Clark University, UMass Boston, Worcester State University, Mechanics Hall, Middlesex Community College, the Jazz Revelations Concert Series in Providence, RI, the Chelmsford Center for the Arts, 90.5 WICN Public Radio, among others. COT has been nominated for ‘Jazz Artist of the Year’ (2021) and ‘Best International Artist of the Year’ (2020) at the Boston Music Awards and ‘Best Jazz Act’ (2019) at the Worcester Music Awards. Its 2019 album ‘El Rio’ got consistent air time at local radio stations and was included in the ‘Favorite New England Albums of the Year 2019’ (Worcester Telegram & Gazette). An album review at Worcester Magazine described the album as follows: “it’s difficult to say more about the Carlos Odria Trio’s new album, ‘El Rio,’ other than that it’s gorgeous: Stunningly, jaw-droppingly, trying-not-to-weep-at-work beautiful.”
